Terms of Service

Last updated: 6 October 2026

These terms govern your use of Stackportfolio at stackportfol.io, including its website, API and MCP server (together, "the service"). The service is operated by Stephen Dawson, trading as Stackportfolio, 25 Granary Wharf, Glenbrook, Passage West, Cork T12 VW35, Ireland ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.

How we handle personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
  • You sign in with your GitHub account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure, and for activity under your Stackportfolio account, including through API keys and apps you authorise.
  • The information on your profile must be about you and be accurate. Do not create an account for someone else or impersonate anyone.
  • Accounts created by automated means ("bots") are not allowed.
  • Tell us promptly if you think your account has been used without your permission.

Acceptable use

You must not use the service to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else to;
  • post content that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit or violent, or that infringes anyone’s intellectual property or privacy;
  • claim work, projects or contributions that are not genuinely yours or that you did not genuinely contribute to;
  • send spam or unsolicited commercial messages, or misuse connection requests and invitations;
  • collect other users’ personal data in bulk, by scraping or otherwise, or use it for purposes they have not agreed to;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service, or get around its security, usage limits or access controls, except through a responsible disclosure to us (see the contact details below);
  • upload malware, or interfere with or overload the service or other people’s use of it.

We may remove content that breaks these rules. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you add to the service: profile details, project descriptions, contribution stories, images and links.

So that we can run the service, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example, resize images) and display your content, only as needed to provide the service and only to the people your visibility settings allow. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that remain for a limited time in backups, and content you have contributed to someone else’s project, which stays part of that project.

You confirm that you have the right to add what you add, and that listing other people as contributors to a project is accurate.

If you believe content on the service infringes your rights, please tell us through the contact form and we will look into it promptly.

API, MCP and connected apps

  • You can create API keys, and authorise apps (such as AI assistants using our MCP server) to act for you through OAuth. Each key or authorisation carries only the permissions you grant, and you can revoke it at any time.
  • Keep your API keys secret. Anything done with a key or an app you authorised is treated as done by you.
  • Use of the API is subject to usage limits, described below. Do not try to get around them, for example by spreading requests across several accounts.
  • We may change the API, giving reasonable notice of changes that would break existing integrations where we can, and may revoke a key or authorisation that is being misused.

Plans and limits

The service is currently free. Each account has usage limits, such as the number of active projects, the images and videos per project, and how often you can create projects or call the API. A higher-limit plan may be granted to some accounts. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you the price and terms before you can be charged, and nothing will be charged without your agreement.

Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the service running and secure, but it is provided without a guarantee that it will always be available or free of faults. We may change, add or remove features. If we decide to close the service, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and the chance to obtain your data.

Ending your use of the service

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account through the contact form.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where the law requires it. Unless that would be unlawful or would let harm continue, we will tell you first, give our reasons and give you a chance to respond. If you believe we got it wrong, contact us and we will review the decision.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the service, for loss of business or profit if you use the service for business purposes, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control. Because the service is free, our total liability to you is otherwise limited to €100.

You are responsible for the content you add and for your use of the service. If you use the service for business purposes and a third party brings a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the service or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell signed-in users about significant changes at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can close your account before then; continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the European Union, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring proceedings in your own courts.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first; most problems can be solved that way.
